Three-year-old gelding Better Call Saul was able to continue the stables recent run of hot form at Sandown on wednesday claiming victory in the $25,000 Polytrack Plate (1800m).

The always consistent son of Statue Of Liberty managed to break through for his maiden win in fine style, scoring comfortably by two lengths.

In-form hoop Vlad Duric provided connections with a textbook front-running ride, leading comfortably from the jump and slowing the tempo mid-race.

The move proved to be the knockout blow, as Better Call Saul summoned a supreme effort rounding the turn to kick clear and claim what was a well deserved win.

Duric was impressed with the resilience the horse showed and had no doubt he would yet again improve as he steps up in distance.

"He gave me a good feel, he was strong to the line and really was never troubled," Duric said.

"I think the 2000m and even a touch further will really suit his style of racing, he doesnt have an electric turn of foot, his strength is his toughness and the fact he can maintain a good rolling tempo,

"He was very tough today and deserved that win."

Congratulations to all connections, it was a much deserved win for "Woody" and yet again another outstanding training performance from Shea.

The stable continues to grow from strength-to-strength and we look forward to hopefully providing many more winners.
