Every stable has a favourite horse and there is no doubt in my mind that ours is RAMBERT, or Charlie to his mates, so our neighbours can expect some celebrations tonight after his first city win at Sandown.
This horse has done such a fantastic job for me during my short career with four important wins including today's Sportingbet Handicap at Sandown, his first city win.
Leading all the way with 59kg's on his back fresh from a 6-week break between runs, Rambert broke the hearts of his rivals to score a narrow but highly impressive win, and looks ready to race regularly in town after taking some time to develop.
The big boy always gives me and the staff a big thrill when he runs so congratulations to everyone in the team that has shown faith in this horse and helped me to keep him happy and healthy.
It just goes to show the sort of work we can do here with the beach and A-grade facilities; leading all the way in town first-up for 6-weeks under top weight at 2100m is no mean feat!
Hopefully all of our visitors to the stable open day last Sunday had something on him today because he was the horse on everyone's lips; one particular group of owners from Sydney well and truly fell in love and I had to crowbar them away from his box at the end of the day – I was pleased to hear that they all backed their new favourite horse today.
Horses like RAMBERT make the 3am starts every day of the week so much easier, and I am sure that the stable is in for its biggest year yet with a team of talented young horses ready to make their mark.
I'm looking for owners to complete a Northern Meteor colt and a powerful Written Tycoon filly bought at the Magic Millions Sale, and I've still got some shares left in a 2yo Choisir colt and a cracking 2yo Artie Schiller filly that will be racing soon.
It would be great to have you on board with one of these young horses as Eden Racing continues to grow from strength to strength.
Until the next winner,
Shea
