Last week I took a quick trip to Newmarket in the UK to inspect our new French stayer King Way.

I am happy to report that the horse is as nice a type as I had hoped, a fantastic speciman, great conformation, and a fantastic temperament; this laid back lad will fit in easily to our stable and should love hanging out on the beach at Corinella.

I said goodbye for now to the King as he entered quarantine today at Newmarket in preparation for his trip to Australia on August 21, I cannot wait to get him home and begin a prep that hopefully sees him race at the back end of the Spring Carnival.

The trip to Newmarket itself has been a real eye-opener and an amazing experience, two days is nowhere near long enough for a trainer to spend in this racing paradise.

The way the trainers work their horses is so different to how we do things here and after talking to a few of the local trainers there are some techniques that we could implement here in Australia especially with our stayers.

Hopefully next year I can spend some more time up there and learn a few more tricks from the English trainers.
