Our smart sprinting mare ANYWAYS ROSIE (4yo m ) maintained her perfect first-up record at Bairnsdale on Sunday with a dominant win in the Telstra Store Bairnsdale BM64 Hcp 1000m.

Ridden to perfection by Ibrahim Gundogdu, Anyways Rosie settled forward of midfield on the rails just behind the leading pack before quickening to take over inside the 350m mark of the home straight.

She cleared out and held a winning margin over a late closer to land a deserved victory after some neat trial perfomances at Cranbourne.

"She's always been a mare that I expected to get through to mid-week city grade at least and this could be the prep that she gets there," Shea said.

"I liked the way she responded when the runner-up came to her, she's a real competitor and in the end she was an easy winner. Lot's of upside for this girl going forward."

Congratulations to the winning connections Alan Harvey and Colin Johnstone.
