Patience paid off at Echuca on Monday when ROYAL SCHILLING (4yo m Artie Schiller x Duchesse De Berri) scored her maiden win at start number three in the 1400m Ecotecture Design Group Maiden Plate.

Ridden beautifully by Ibrahim Gundogdu who had the mare sitting on the back of the speed with plenty of room to move, Royal Schilling took over the running with the greatest of ease rounding the home turn before clearing out for a soft two-length win.

She still wanted to look around and do a bit wrong in the straight which gives the connections great scope to look forward to further improvement as her career goes on.

"She's been through the wars this girl, injuries and immaturity have held her back to this point but I kept telling the owners to be patient, this is the result today," Shea said.

"There's more to come from her and as long as she stays sound she will race her way through the grades."

Congratulations to the winning owners, you've got plenty to look forward to with Royal Schilling.
