Ridden expertly by jocket James Winks, Ocean Embers was always in an attacking position and showed push-button acceleration when asked to take the race inside the final 300m.

The win was vindication for the hard work of Shea and the team and the patience of her ownership group who have waited 18 months to see their talented filly at the races.

"She's always shown us that she is well above average but we've had to be patient with her, she's had a few little niggles," Shea said.

"She's very exciting, she put that field away in a couple of strides and had more to give. I'll step her up to better races now and see where she fits in over spring, there's a nice 1200m Group 3 for her at Moonee Valley in a few weeks that looks ideal."

James Winks was just as enthusiastic after the race and is looking forward to maintaining his relationship with the filly going forward.

"She wanted to go a little soon when the gap came so I had to hold her up, but once she let down the race was over. She's very promising and I'm looking forward to sticking with her," he said.
