Thanks to a superb and patient ride by Damien Thornton Commando Miss lived up to her early promise winning first up at Stawell on Friday in the 1300 Maiden. Settling at the rear the 4 year old Zebedee x Via Laurentina mare was still last approaching the turn however unlike many of the runners that all pulled out wide to make their runs Thornton decided to stay to the fence and follow the warm favourite through for an impressive victory showing a terrifc turn of foot once clear.

Congratulations to Steve O’Rourke, John O’Rourke, Paul Morrice, John Cockle, Norm Dawe, Barry McIlwaine, Terry Edwards, John Brady, Ben and Matthew Said and all the Hawthorn boys (and ex Hawthorn boys), Grant Birchall, Jaeger O’meara, Ben Stratton, Jack Gunston, Liam Shiels,James Frawley, Jarrod Roughhead and Jon O’Rourke – your patience has paid off.

A big well done to our foreman Jamie Dentith and all the hard working Eden Racing staff plus thanks to our vets.

Shea is confident that the mare is over the issues that have haunted her over the past 12 months and that she now go on with it.
