It may have taken a while to get the maiden out of the way but improving stayer DEL BOCA VISTA (5yo g Artie Schiller x Wide Vision) didn't make his connections wait long for win number two, taking the Gallay Medical and Scientific 0-58 Hcp at Kilmore in brave style on Tuesday.
Ridden again by apprentice Brandon Stockdale, Del Boca Vista loped along in front until the 600m when the young hoop set him alight and stole a 7-length margin on the rest of the field.
Although the big horse began to feel the pinch over the last 100m Stockdale kept him up to the task and prevailed by a short-head at the post.
"Many thanks to Brandon again for the ride today, when you listen to instructions and ride to them as well it makes is easy for connections to put you on, even easier when you win for them," Shea said.
"This horse was always going to take time and it sounds funny as a 5yo just off a 0-58 but he's just starting to work it all out. It wouldn't surprise me if he was able to win again in another suitable grade of race."
A big congratulations to Del Boca Vista's connections Myles Hunter, John Sharkie, Jim Hunter, Mick Sharkie, Simon Bilalis, Dave Donnelly, Jeff Mcmanus, Kent Eden, Steve Holmes, Jeff Griffiths, Julie Sheahan, and Warby Range Stud.
