Alsvin’s outstanding win today was a well executed plan in tackling open company for the first time and bringing up the most wins of any horse for the stable in Shea’s training career being 7 wins. Today’s win surpassed the 6 wins of Ocean Embers, Flyingconi and Rambert with Bless Her not far off with 5 wins in her short career. In the heavy conditions Alsvin took care of some well credentialled rivals due to an outstanding ride again from Georgina Cartwright following Shea’s instructions to a tee. All 7 wins have been ridden by female jockeys Nikita Beriman, Steph Thornton, Linda Meech and Georgina Cartwright which is a fantastic and very unique stat.

A big congratulations to all Alsvin’s great bunch of owners who have now seen his earnings surpass $330,000. It was only November last year when we all witnessed his fall at Cranbourne and we initially thought maybe he would not race again. He’s fought back from the fall with great care from our vets and in particular our loyal and dedicated staff. Intersting to note that Jamie Mott who broke both legs in that fall has also bounced back in the last couple of months and he’s riding plenty of winners that we are so pleased to see for Jamie.

Today’s win continues the great run for Shea and the stable and now cements him in the top 10 trainers in Australia this seson with 8 winners and a strike rate of just under 50%. Shea is also in the top 10 in the prizemoney earned by trainers nationally. This is a phenomonal performance given the challenges of the past two years and the fact that the stable is now racing half as many horses as 12 -18 months ago. There are still opportunities to become involved with Eden Racing and don’t hesitate to contact the stable if you would like to come along for a very exciting ride.

In closing off today’s great success for the stable it has been a very challenging 24 hours for everyone at Cranbourne with a stable employee of a fellow trainer testing positive for Covid. Our staff and everyone involved with our stable will continue to follow the stringent protocols that are in place to play our part in this difficult time and we trust everyone reading this story of Alsvin’s win at the Valley today are all safe and well.
