Progressive mare SMOKIN' AL (4yo m Al Samer x Auroura's Hot) didn't take long to get into the winner's list this preparation, scoring in brilliant fashion at Sale in the Tinamba Hotel Showcase 1200m second-up from a spell.
A mare that Shea has always held in high regard, Smokin' Al has been given plenty of time to mature and develop before hitting the track, with Shea confident that she will now progress to city grade races on the back of her win on Wednesday.
"I've always thought she was city class, maybe a little better, she'll get the chance to show it now," he said.
"That was a good field that she beat today and she did it really nicely too. She's from the family of Niwot and I'm confident that she will get more ground than what she won over today, I'm really excited about her future."
Congratulations to the winning connections Brian Cash, Keenan Galas, Daniel Holmes, Myles Hunter, James Hunter, Adam Innes-Brown, Peter Liedtke, Jeff McManus.
