Following a tough week for the stable with the unfortunate demise of two horses in Ocular and Bob’s Bay due to injury it was Maiori that provided a real moral lifting win at Moe on Thursday in 1100 maiden. The 3YO filly by Megdalia D’oro out of Berenice jumped well and led as expected and with a well rated ride by Tom Stockdale she proved far too good in the run home with an emphatic victory on her favourite going – a heavy 9 track. There were some doubts whether she would get the 1100 but this was clearly dispelled as the field couldn’t get near her in the run home.
It was a well deserved result for owner and breeder Daryl Purvis who has been a very close associate of Eden Racing for a long while and it also follows up his promising two year old in Walter Spur who ran a terrific second at his first start at Geelong last Friday behind a very smart horse.
The win is a good tonic for all the team at Eden Racing and a big well done to Shea and Jamie and thank you to all the staff. We look forward to Maiori having a great campaign over the winter months over the shorter sprint journeys.
