We were extremely proud of Bless Her on Saturday in the Group 3 Cockram Stakes where she was attempting 6 in a row only to be run down in the shadows of the post by the quality WA mare Perfect Jewel. She categorically substantiated that she is up to this grade in beating a number of very well credentialled mares home despite being understated by many sections of the media after her outstanding last start win. Being perfectly ridden again by Jye McNeill the Troy and Madelaine Wilson and Shea and Miranda owned mare just fell short of emulating Shea’s top horse Ocean Embers when it won the Cockram 4 years ago.
She will now have a short freshen up as Shea eyes off the possibilty of having a crack at races like the Schillaci and the Alinghi.
Whilst the stable didn’t have a winner over the weekend Prosecutor ran really well at Sale yesterday being beaten a short head by two very good horses in a strong 1400 maiden and will derive great benefit from the run. On Saturday Akamon ran a very honest race at Warracknabeal in the Sheep Hills on a track that ended up a good 4 that is not his preferred surface whilst at Caulfield Polanco was first up over 1100 and after being caught wide into the wind knocked up in the straight and will really take plenty out of the run.
