Lightly raced three year old Schwoon is on track for the 3YO Inglis Sprint at Flemington on March 5th, a race worth $750,000. The Odyssey Moon x Swish gelding impressed in his first campaign with a tremendous first start win at Bairnsdale despite being very green, followed up by an unlucky second at Sale and completed his first campaign by contesting the Benchmark 80 1100 Grand Handicap on the final day of the Melbounre Cup Carnival with an exceptionally good effort finishing 6th of 16 runners at his first attempt down the straight being beaten 2 lengths by It’s Ourtime. It was that run that encouraged Shea to aim at the upcoming Inglis race. Schwoon has been back in work for a number of weeks and will have an 800m jump out at Cranbourne on Monday 14th February in preparation for a tilt at the big race at Flemington on March 5th. According to Shea it is likely the horse will have one further jump out prior to going straight to Flemington first up.
Shea is optimistic that Schwoon, whose work to date has been spot on, will be very competitive in the Inglis race have dreived great beneift from his first campaign both from an expereince and a maturity point of view.
