Bright Eyes Lights Up Moonee Valley
Jun 28, 2018
Bright Eyes lived up to the opinion of the stable yesterday, winning the 2 year old fillies race over 1200m at Moonee Valley. After jumping from barrier 3, Craig Williams was able to place the Bel Esprit filly in a forward position and fight on for a strong victory.
Shea was ecstatic after the win. "We have always had a good opinion of her and to see her put it together in a good field today is very satisfying. I'm really happy with how she's come through the run and I'm looking forward to seeing what else she has to offer" said Shea.
Jockey Craig Williams was also full of praise. "She's still not the furnished product. She won today on absolute ability, good education and progression and I think she's going to be an interesting filly looking at Spring," said Craig.
Bright Eyes struck a very heavy track on debut at Swan Hill, finishing 4th over 975m in the testing conditions, but she didn't seem to be troubled by the soft going yesterday.
A daughter of Bel Esprit, Bright Eyes was a $100,00 purchase from the Sun Stud draft in the 2017 Inglis Premier Sale.
Better things are in store for Bright Eyes, with Spring ambitions looming on the horizon. Congratulations to connections.
