A smart Kiwi wins well

Shea’s great relationship with Bluegrass Bloodstock continued yesterday at sale when Equilibrium made a winning debut for the stable at Sale on Monday.

Formerly trained in New Zealand Equilibrium was purchased by Shea and Lenny Russo from Bluegrass to fill a niche in the middle distance metropolitan market, a distance range that New Zealand bred horses have long dominated in Australia.

“It is an area that I have recognised as a potential sweet spot for tried horses,” Shea said.

“When you have the confidence of good owners you can really target these horses and the results were obvious today, the horse has a very bright future and I'm excited to see what he can do as he progresses.”

Although the horse only prevailed by a narrow margin, Shea is confident that there are better wins in store especially when the horse gets onto a wet track.

"I think on his New Zealand form it is clear that he enjoys getting his toe into the ground. I think when he steps up to that 2000m range with some give we're going to see a really nice city grade horse.

A big congratulations to all the owners involved. Don't miss your chance to be a part of our next New Zealand import, contact Glenn or Shea today to reserve a place on the wait list.
