And the winner is...

Apr 16, 2018

100 guests braved a wintery cold snap to join Shea, Miranda and the Eden Racing team at our Cranbourne stables on Sunday to inspect the latest batch of recruits selected by Shea during the 2018 yearling sales season.

And given the quality of the young horses bought by Shea and his bloodstock team so far this season, there's little wonder that the numbers were so strong as keen buyers moved quickly to snap up opportunities to race some beautifully bred young horses.

"We paraded 12 yearlings on Sunday and I was immensely proud of how they were turned out and handled by my team," said Shea.

"Better yet was the amount of interest in the horses from the guests on the day. I'm looking forward to putting a smile on the faces of those owners that joined our team as these youngsters hit the track and start on their winning way."

Of the 12 yearlings, the Written Tycoon x Dowager Princess colt, the Written Tycoon x Das Machen filly, the Not A Single Doubt x More Bubbly colt, and the Reset x Chevaleresse colt attracted the strongest interest with only limited opportunities in each of them remaining.

And the inaugural "Rank The Recruits" competition, which asked guests to rank their favourite four horses in order to match the assessment of Bluegrass Bloodstock's Leonard Russo, saw a surprise winner.

Congratulations to Adam Macnee and his partner Kristal who won a dining and hospitality package for six at Cranbourne night races.

And a big thank you to all those who attended on the day.
