Cavalero bolts in

Dec 11, 2017

Patience paid off on Monday at Bairnsdale when lightly raced 3yo CAVALERO (3yo g Helmet x Zipstream) broke his maiden in stunning fashion in the Pallot Racing Maiden Plate (1600m).

Cavalero has long been near the top of Shea's ratings as far as his 3yo crop goes but the big, lanky son of Helmet has taken some time and some patience to see off a few minor ailments before putting his best foot forward at the races.

"He's always been a very talented horse and he'll win much better races than this," Shea said.

"He's had little viruses and minor injuries that have just held him up but we've given him the time he needs. That was a very easy win today and he needed the run, he's only going to get better."

The win was the latest success for the Eden / Beriman combination with jockey Nikita Beriman riding a faultless race.

There's plenty to look forward to for the connections of this horse as well as the owners of his 2yo half-brother by Magnus, a horse Shea chased hard at the 2017 Melbourne Premier Sale.

"He's a serious horse as well, a brother to G3 winner Miss Promiscuity - talent runs deep in this family," he said.

Limited opportunities remain in the Magnus colt - contact the stable for details.
