Sale Preview Thursday July 20

Jul 20, 2017

Shea's got the float on the back of the ute, has his favourite tunes pumping (80s rock circa White Snake - it's shocking isn't it?) and is off down the highway to Sale with four really good chances today.

Here are his thoughts ahead of the meeting.

R2. NO. 10 EXCEDER - Didn't have a lot go right for her first-up at Swan Hill but her work has been good and she's a better horse than that. Nikita Beriman has been doing some riding for us in the mornings here at Cranbourne and she gets along well with the mare, don't be shocked if the horse improves.

R5 NO. 4 ROSEBERRY STREET - When this mare gets into her right races she is very hard to beat and I think she's found a winnable contest here. I can make excuses for her first-up at Mornington on heavy ground, both of her wins have been at 1400m and she's a winner second-up. Jack Martin has been riding well for our team and his 1.5kg claim is a bonus.

R6 NO. 11 SPORTS WRITER - If you saw this mare's first-up run at this track you won't need me to tell you she is a winning chance today. She's a very talented horse but she's had a lot of injury niggles during her career so we haven't seen the best of her. If she has improved on that first-up run I expect her to go close and so does jockey Brad Rawiller.

R8 NO. 6 BAREFOOT TYCOON - This horse is bred and raced by two of my most loyal and supportive clients, Ron and Kim Thomas so I would be thrilled for them if he can bring up win number two today. His first campaign was very promising and he showed he can handle all sorts of ground - he just got a little tired to the end of the campaign but he's back a stronger horse this time around. If he has improved I think he can reach mid-week grade at least but he may need the run today.

Good luck to all of the owners involved today - keep an eye on our social media feed for more news about our runners.

ICYMI - Ocean Embers returns for spring
