Weekly Update June 16
Jun 16, 2017
It's been another winning week at Eden Racing as June continues to be a very successful month for the team.
Rawiller / Eden strike rate soars!
On the Queen's Birthday holiday Monday, 3yo VIN FIZ (g, Master Of Design x Flight Plume) got his maiden out of the way in comfortable fashion at Mornington for leading jockey Brad Rawiller, and better still as the meeting carried city status the connections picked up a very healthy pot of prize money.
Vin will now head to a 1400m 3yo race at Bendigo next Wednesday where he will be very competitive. A huge thanks to outstanding bloodstock agent Paul Willetts for assisting with the purchase of Vin Fiz at the 2015 yearling sales. Paul is a valued associate of the stable and a tremendous judge of a horse, we're lucky to be able to call on his services.
It was great to have Brad's services - the majority of his rides are for Darren Weir but when we can get him onto one of our horses we don't hesitate, he's had a tremendous winning strike rate of 21% for our team so it pays to have a punt when B. Rawiller and S. Eden team up.
On Sunday we will take a trio of runners to Sale with Vardy likely to be scratched from a wide gate and saved for another day.
Of the three runners I am really excited to see our French import KING WAY (g, Thewayyouare x Artistry) back at the races after a long break.
Your jaw would drop if you knew what we've been through with this extremely talented horse. In France he was regarded as one of the most promising young stayers in that country, but we've had a horrid run of injury niggles and feet issues with him since he arrived in Australia.
Over the last 12 months we have actually rebuilt all four hooves, stripping them right back and growing them out with a set of very expensive orthopaedic lifts to shape them the right way. Hopefully the patience of his owners pays off this campaign and we see the horse bring up a couple of wins.
As always there is plenty going on at the stables and a few shares left in some exiting young prospects - one particular young horse that I'm very happy with is our Dalakhani x Song Of Gold filly, closely related to our dual G3 winner Ocean Embers.
I keep hearing how well the 2yo progeny of Dalakhani are going in rival stables; all the big guns are raving about the breed and having seen the development in my filly since the sales I think I know why the talk is so positive!
Smart players won't need to think much about getting involved in this one - she has been the most viewed horse on our website in the last three weeks - click here to view her pedigree.
Keep a close eye on King Way this Sunday at Sale and follow him this campaign!
Have a great weekend
